GCSE Results 2014 - A Great Success!

Students in Moor Park have achieved a great set of GCSE results this year despite the recent changes to these examinations. All students achieved GCSE qualifications and 77% achieved an A*-C grade; a new record. Nearly half of the year group achieved 8 A*- C grades and 10 students achieved 5 or more A*-A grades; a really fantastic achievement.
The Headteacher, Mr Cunningham said, "He was delighted to see every student achieving qualifications. Our aim is always to ensure no student is left behind. Clearly our very able students have done remarkably well. We expect to see more students continue their education into Moor Park Sixth Form this year following their excellent GCSE results".

Mr Cunningham went onto say, "It has been an anxious time for students due to some significant changes to GCSE qualifications of late and the possible impact these changes could have on their results. However, we are very pleased with the results overall and proud of their achievements".

Two students, Mohammed Patel and Georgina Ross achieved 18 A*-A grades between them. Mohammed who has applied to Moor Park Sixth Form, said he was "amazed with his results and was looking forward to studying 'A' Levels in Maths, Biology and Chemistry" and going onto become an Accountant.

Eight Students from Moor Park achieved 21 A* and 40 A grades between them. Mahmoona Hussain said, "She was hoping to study 'A' Level Sociology, Business, English and Religious Education and excited about staying on in the new sixth form".

Mr Cunningham commented further on the recent changes to the school performance tables and said, "Undoubtedly, our school performance figures will be affected as only one vocational qualification per student counts in the performance measures and some students have successfully passed more than one vocational subject which are therefore not included as well as those GCSE subjects students took earlier in Year 10 and 11 such as Statistics. Not to include all the qualifications students achieve seems unfair on schools; after all, teachers work tremendously hard to ensure all their students do as well as they can irrespective of whether or not the grades count".

Overall Moor Park has again exceeded the government’s floor targets and continued to maintain high standards of achievement with progress in English and Maths in line with national averages.

Congratulations go to Year 11 who achieved excellent results despite tougher tests. Well done!
