Congratulations to the first group of sixth form students to successfully complete their A Levels in the new sixth form achieving a fantastic 97% Pass Rate and 100% Progression.
The very first group of students to complete the two year course and achieve their A Levels in the new sixth form have proved all the hard work and vision was right. A 97% pass rate means all students have been successful in progressing onto University or employment with higher level training.
The headteacher, Peter Cunningham, commented how pleased he was for the students who despite all the challenges they faced in studying for their qualifications as the new sixth form and buildings were coming into existence, nevertheless went on to achieve a very good set of results overall.
With the number of students doubling in Year 12 the sixth form is clearly starting to grow as the highest number of applications for places was received over the summer.
The Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form Anne King said that she expected to see the number of students continue to increase as the new sixth form building is now complete and we are offering a wider choice of courses to suit individual student needs.
The head commented further saying the early Ofsted Inspection last year, which rated the sixth form as good overall, clearly identified many positives such as the good value-added score reflecting the good and outstanding progress students were making. We are confident we have the makings of an excellent sixth form that will go from strength to strength each year as we aim to provide outstanding provision in future.
