'Get into Law' University of Chester

Law students were escorted by Mrs King to the Chester Campus of the University of Law to take part in interactive sessions to help develop the skills required to have a successful career in Law. Students were greeted by experienced Lawyers and Lecturers and given an introductory talk about careers in Law and studying Law at university. They were then given information from the defence in the real life case of ‘Amanda Knox’ and asked to work as the prosecution and build a case against her. Working with students from other schools and colleges, students then had to cross-examine Mrs King (who played a witness in the case). The afternoon gave students the opportunity to take part in a mock assessment session where they participated in group activities to develop skills required to gain jobs in Law. University of Law staff members gave useful feedback to all students, giving positive comments and advice for students to work on in order to improve their employment prospects. “I gained a lot from the day and developed skills that will be useful in my Law career.” (Miles Davis, Yr 12 student)
